How to get up and running with e-commerce at KU

  1. e-commerce graphicComplete the online request form. Submitting the form will email your information to the KU E-commerce Team.
  2. The KU E-commerce Team will review the request and contact you to schedule a brief meeting. During the meeting we will discuss the following:
    • The University’s payment processing solution, Touchnet, and the features it has available
    • What your are needing (online registrations, online shopping cart, point-of-sale terminal, etc)
    • Security guidelines, policies, and procedures
    • Information regarding your implementation time line (typical request takes a minimum of 1-3 months)
    • Fees as well as any costs for non-"out-of-the-box" development
    • If you want to use a vendor-purchased application, the e-commerce team will assist you in arranging contact between the vendor and Touchnet. There is typically a fee for this integration, which will be discussed during the ecommerce meeting
  3. FACC will establish a Merchant Id for your unit
  4. KU Information Technology will assist in the development of registration forms or store. You will work closely with IT and FACC on establishing the online forms or store.  It is the your unit's responsibility to have the cost(s) first approved by the KU Rate Review Committee.
  5. "Go live" (your application will be available for production use).  You will be able to run reports on your sales at any time to see the transaction details.
